Divorce Certificate Attestation

The Divorce Certificate could be attested or legalized from any Embassy or Consulate of destination Country present in India after the Attestation from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the attestation of the competent officer designated by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The designated officer or signatory or the department could be changed from time to time as per the instruction of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The designated signatory may be the Section Officer, Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner, Magistrate, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Resident Commissioner, Chief Secretary, Joint Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Director, Deputy Director etc. The Attestation cell may be General Administrative Department (GAD), Regional Attestation Center (RAC), and Higher Education Department as the name of the office varied from State to State in India. There is a very old attestation or legalization process is practiced in India, and the process is most popular, cost effective as well as time effective. In this process the Divorce Certificate firstly will be attested from the Home Department, Mumbai (Mumbai Mantralaya) after that it will be attested from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and finally it will be attested from the destination country's Embassy or Consulate present in India. The process is highly acceptable as well as most respectful attestation process in India.

The issued from India could also be attested or legalized from concerned Embassy or consulate of destination Country present in India after the attestation of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the attestation of Home Department, Mumbai. But it is an alternate, genuine and acceptable process for maximum number of Countries across the Globe. On the other hand some Countries are very specific as they require the state level attestation on the Divorce Certificate prior to the attestation from Ministry of External Affairs as well as the Embassy or consulate attestation or legalization of the destination country present in India.

The Divorce Certificate issued from India could also be attested or legalized from concerned Embassy or consulate of destination Country present in India after the attestation of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after the attestation of Sub Divisional Magistrate, New Delhi. But it is an alternate, genuine and acceptable process for maximum number of Countries across the globe. On the other hand some Countries are very specific as they require the state level attestation on the Divorce Certificate prior to the attestation from Ministry of External Affairs as well as the Embassy or consulate attestation or legalization of the destination country present in India.

Some Countries require the translation copy of the attested or legalized Divorce Certificate issued in India in English language to their own country's languages. Also some Country requires the fresh / reissued Attested Divorce Certificate. In that case the issuance of the Divorce Certificate and the attestation will be within six months.
